MISSION STATEMENT ~

To preserve and protect the simple and sacred through instinctual living, educational experiences, spiritual direction and personal disciplines.

VISION STATEMENT ~ This word medicine birthed from our wimyn’s gatherings, and speaks to the mission, purpose and life of the entire community.

To say that we honor the wildish nature is to say that we find sacred and encourage in our selves and our kinsters the ways of instinctive knowing, of inner growth and spiritual expansion, of innate community building, and the passing on of wisdom through ritual and storytelling.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES ~

In addition to honoring the Holyland Home Rules, we all agree to live according to the following principles while on the Holyland:

Sameness ~ We promise to humbly live and participate in the culture among the people we serve.

Satyagraha – Truth Force ~ We promise to keep to the ways of peace: not harming or forcing life or creation; eating no flesh, fish or fowl; protecting the Holyland; giving thanks for pure water, fresh air, nourishment, warmth and shelter; cherishing life, our own and all others in deed, word and intention.

Silence ~ We promise to value relationship: stand, by our part, on good relations with all people; honor and respect the crossing of paths; nurture daily, by simple silence, the awareness of our eternal and sacred relationship with our creator, our kinsters, with creation and our own Soul.

Simplicity ~ We promise to live, in ever growing awareness, a life of simplicity: give more than we take; quiet the mind to single and simple purpose; live with the knowledge that we are the temporary guardians of all we possess; and stand ready to share when love calls.

Sacred Love ~ We promise to live a life of sexual appropriateness: give our Love through our eyes and voice and hands to all peoples of the world; Love as our Divine Spirit loves, freely, purely, instinctively, abundantly; Love as we have been loved, richly, with grand enthusiasm and without hesitation.

Service ~ We promise to commit to the preservation of sacred, simple birth, primarily among the poor; and to honor, respect, support and protect the midwives who serve them.

Solidarity ~ We promise to revisit and renew our intentions according to the wisdom and guidance of the Divine Spirit working in our life and the lives of our spiritual community.

Guiding Values and Ethics –

It means not controlling or manipulating others; not trying to manage their affairs. It means not going off to some other land and killing people over there – not for religion or politics or military exercises or any other excuse. MorningStar Community is an intentional, ecumenical community founded by a Cherokee Hermitess and Catholic mystic. Our mission is to preserve and protect the simple and sacred through instinctual living, educational experiences, spiritual direction, personal disciplines, and collective and individual spiritual retreats. Our vision is thus: we honor the wildish nature by finding sacred and encouraging in our selves and our kinsters the ways of instinctive knowing, of inner growth and spritual expansion and the passing on of wisdom through ritual and storytelling. We strive for world peace and global solidarity. While on the Holyland we uphold these principles: peaceful ways, not harming or forcing life, vegetarian lifestyle, gratitude/gratefulness, cherishing life, valuing relationships, simplistic living, loving as our divine spirit loves.
