“We promise to live, in ever growing awareness, a life of simplicity; to give more than we take and to quiet the mind to single and simple purpose; to live with the knowledge that we are the temporary guardians of all we possess and to stand ready to share when love calls.” ~ MorningStar Community Guiding Principle
Belonging is a basic human need. It is why community is the most powerful collective potential for creating good in our personal and shared worlds.

Community life is a reflection of the values and life practices that make up the cultural fabric of our collective society. When we act from a place of conscious intention balanced with instinctual intelligence, trusting in the Goodness of Creation, we can enjoy helping create a world of peace and plenty for our global children and their children’s children.

Community life touches all aspects of how we live from Birth unto Death. We face major decisions daily as we seek balance between personal responsibility and faith in the wisdom of instinctual living.

For three decades, MorningStar Community has been committed to preserving and protecting the principles of simple and sacred living. By honoring the simple and sacred through instinctual living we have gained experience and confidence in the correctness of these basic principles and their potential for peace. They serve us in our secular, political, religious and visionary roles.

We have applied these basic principles to. . .

  • Birth – and found the superiority of home birth and midwifery care
  • Health – and found home wellness therapies/well care
  • Schooling – and found home education
  • Food – and found vegetarian nutrition
  • Home-Making – and found environmental rights
  • Pets – and found animal rights
  • Humanity – and found Mission Holywork
  • Worship – and found Soulwork through ritual and storytelling
  • Dying – and found home death
  • Innate community building – and found YOU.

It is not always easy for us to let what is natural be natural – to honor a knowing that existed before we did. Often it is even more difficult to preserve it. And if it is not preserved within us, it will not be preserved in our lives, our policies, our hospitals, our schools, or our churches. Most importantly, it becomes lost to our future generations.

Your contribution to MorningStar Community helps sustain the Holyland and our Spiritual Centre for Instinctual Living. Our centre offers programs of education and spiritual direction specifically for midwifery, childbirth, wellness therapies, yoga, culturally sensitive natural family planning, Spanish, as well as personal and collective spiritual retreats. In addition, MorningStar Community participates yearly in Mission work, both in Mexico and at the local community level in Missouri.

Our mission holywork teaches us the meaning of wealth of spirit and love that abides amidst great poverty. Keeping to the ways of the Simple and Sacred is how we honor the wisdom and skills of our indigenous kinsters and preserve their knowledge for our children.

We are an ecumenical community and I, the founder, am a Catholic Hermitess Nun of Cherokee ancestry with ecumenical vows. I promise you that your donation will receive my personal thank you and sincere appreciation, whatever the amount. Tiny droplets of living water make the oceans in which we are all privileged to swim.

May your life be filled with simple and sacred pleasures.

MorningStar Community is an intentional, ecumenical community founded by a Cherokee Hermitess and Catholic mystic. Our mission is to preserve and protect the simple and sacred through instinctual living, educational experiences, spiritual direction, personal disciplines, and collective and individual spiritual retreats. Our vision is thus: we honor the wildish nature by finding sacred and encouraging in our selves and our kinsters the ways of instinctive knowing, of inner growth and spritual expansion and the passing on of wisdom through ritual and storytelling. We strive for world peace and global solidarity. While on the Holyland we uphold these principles: peaceful ways, not harming or forcing life, vegetarian lifestyle, gratitude/gratefulness, cherishing life, valuing relationships, simplistic living, loving as our divine spirit loves.
