What To Bring
“May the Simple and Sacred lead us to a more peace-filled planet.” ~ MorningStar

A spiritual retreat in our beautiful nature's sanctuary will fill your soul and bring rest and renewal to your body, mind and heart. Leave behind the burdens and books and technology and anything that keeps you plugged in to something other than yourself. Bring one arm full of comfort items and one arm empty for flinging to the sky, hair flying, skirt lifted, come running. Bring your authenticity, which is no easy thing to pack. In addition, to your personal items for comfort and inspiration, we invite you to bring:

  • Nourishing foods - vegetarian or vegan or raw
  • Camera
  • Flash light and other camping gear
  • Towels and toiletries
  • Outdoor mats/chairs/blankets
  • Dinnerware for picnics
  • Natural insect repellant
  • Gardening gloves
  • Appropriate clothing for the season
  • Journaling supplies/art supplies
  • Clothes and shoes for creeks and hills
  • Water Bottle
  • Hand sanitizer, lip balm, sun glasses
  • Drums and music makers
  • Yoga mat
  • Massage oils/essences
  • Candles and/or altar icons
  • Donation and love note
  • Open soul, open mind, honest heart

For Group Retreats, including Blue Moon, Wimyn's, Maidens', Red Earth and Community, consider everything above plus the following:

  • Sleeping bag/bedding
  • Tent/tipi
  • Twine for Smudge Sticks or Talking Sticks
  • Colorful Floss for hair wraps, garlands
  • Bones, stones, feathers, beads, yarn, ribbons
  • Gardening tools and plants for the friendship garden
  • Dreams, stories, songs
  • Laughter, humor, ponderings, questions
  • Vegan, vegetarian dishes and snacks to share
  • More good stuff...

MorningStar Community is an intentional, ecumenical community founded by a Cherokee Hermitess and Catholic mystic. Our mission is to preserve and protect the simple and sacred through instinctual living, educational experiences, spiritual direction, personal disciplines, and collective and individual spiritual retreats. Our vision is thus: we honor the wildish nature by finding sacred and encouraging in our selves and our kinsters the ways of instinctive knowing, of inner growth and spritual expansion and the passing on of wisdom through ritual and storytelling. We strive for world peace and global solidarity. While on the Holyland we uphold these principles: peaceful ways, not harming or forcing life, vegetarian lifestyle, gratitude/gratefulness, cherishing life, valuing relationships, simplistic living, loving as our divine spirit loves.
